overcoming life's trials

You wandered down the shaded path

Of thorns and fallen trees

Dry wheat fields a far oft,

The place that made you grieve.

The roaring cries of creatures above

The sounds, gave such a fright

The darkened world encircled round

No hiding place in sight

The river below no longer flowed

It was littered with broken dreams

So many things you could've wanted

But nothing came true it seemed.

Each passing day, you felt you had failed

No one there to help you through

You try and try to lift yourself

But no strength is left in you.

As the time passes slowly

You don't know how long it'll be

Before you find a way to escape

That world so hard to flee.

You say a little prayer

Heartfelt with drops of tears

Pleading for a hint of light

That overtakes your troubles and fears.

The sun then peers out from the clouds

Its shining rays touch your soul

You suddenly feel you have some hope

Out of that miserable hole.

That quiet strength and faith you gain

Is enough to get you back

Following the rays of light

Until your on the right track.

Now your on the straightened path

With gardens and flowers grown

Sunflower fields a far oft

Beauty thus mind blown.

No longer do you desire the world,

Behind in darkness dread

But that world with light and truth

The one that looks ahead.
