They say the eyes are the windows to the soul.
Everyone keeps saying,
If we look into each other’s eyes,
We’ll understand,
We’ll know everything.
And I agreed.
At least I used to.
Because whenever I hear that,
I think of everybody I know.
I’ve always find eyes fascinating.
How different everybody’s eyes were,
The color, the shape,
No one has the same pair.
Whenever I talk to someone,
I look straight into their eyes.
For a while I believed,
That I knew them.
But that changed.
I grew up and I learned,
I see differently now.
All the people I thought I knew,
All the stories I thought I understood,
I never really did.
I’ve been deceived.
Liars. People are liars.
Their eyes tell lies the lips dare not speak.
I used to see others and I look into their eyes,
To see whom they are.
But they betrayed me.
Those who look kind and gentle,
Turned out to be sinister and sly.
I do not trust now,
What looks seem to tell.
They say the eyes are the windows to the soul.
But I beg to differ.
