Expelled angels hide their dirty wings
Cloak the shame expulsion brings
Walk amongst the traffic and morning talk
Breathe in the bagels of a waking New York
Chrome bumper catches their puzzled eyes
Distorted and dramatically reduced in size
Stepping close, their pupils grew
Relegation to mere human, reflected as true
Tall buildings point to a distant home
Gates of heaven and love once known
Rain soaks their already damp skin
Their path to redemption can not begin
Until they truly start to understand
Lost fingers of man need their hand

They follow a trail of bitter tears
Floods that consume a thousand years
A heart in darkness, blind to the shade
Subject to madness, together they made
Pursuit of greed and bloated waist
Self gratifying yet void of taste
Drunk on the slur, of forbidden fruit
What they couldn't catch, they would shoot
Religion twisted, taking its toll
Finally removing their gift of soul
Aloof to new masters, their dreams numb
Ambition ceases and they all become dumb
Small wheels in an antisocial cog
Knee deep in a corporate bog

Apathy seems our gift
Too lazy, they hail a lift
Yellow taxi slows to a stop
Soaked in frustration in they hop
When asked if they have a final destination
They start to laugh,
"we'll leave that to your imagination"
