I think this one deals with how we view our own pain and how that compares with others. The poem tries to say that although you may feel down, there are others who really are drowning in sorrow. Sometimes we need to be reminded just how lucky we are.

Your naked feet stand at the waters edge,

yes I see the tide has struck your toes

But this is the sea of pain

it is littered with real human misery

Turn away, seek haven in the dunes

the breeze that warms you, is my voice

There are tiny diamonds of hope

random jewels concealed within the sand

Hear their sound,

that is not seagulls in torture

Your caring hands can be of assistance,

you are needed back home

Count the tiny fibres of fortune,

comb and groom your luck

Feel the circular chips of love,

stacked high on a light green table of velvet

Before you fade back into the city lights,

watch the crashing waves of affliction

Remember this visit.

never again confuse sadness with torment

Feel how dry your thoughts are,

others are drowning, their plight acute

Remember not the location of this beach,

steer others from its leaking path
