Imagine
when his body, close to death,
arrived at the Roosevelt Hospital
The skill of the surgeons knife
repaired the awesome damage done
Imagine
his eyes seeing
the four removed bullets
Copper memento's
from Mark David Chapman's revolver
Imagine
his response to
the questions, detectives ask him
His poetic skills
describing December 8th's dramatic events
Imagine
his beautiful white piano
a treasured possession of his
Patiently awaiting his return
the keys concealing a new melody
Imagine
the void in every record shop
filled with his post 1980 productions
His presence gracing the stage
with the three other Beatles at Live Aid
Imagine
the Strawberry Fields memorial
not yet conceived
The over grown space
just a corner of Central Park
Imagine
his elderly voice
speaking up for the people of Iraq
His desire for world peace strong
his condemnation of Bush stronger
Imagine
next time you hear his song
it's a personal whisper
A delivered message saying
”it's easy if you try”
I highly reccomend this poem, regarding his assasination, click here
