Ok a little premature I know, but I love the shift to spring and am already noticing some flowers are blooming early.

The first roasted flakes of cinnamon fall
melting the drama of cold
Baked and filling the air with fruit
they form a carpet of bloom
The dark cave of winter
crumbles under the arrival of new life
Roots break free of soil
and breathe the smell of change
A scent so strong
we can not avoid the sweet taste of Spring

Well... I'm so happy for you because as I sit here by my window in good old Massachusetts, New England, USA I see snow covered earth, bare branches and a thermometer that reads 29 degrees!! But that only makes me enjoy the warmth of your poem all the more!!
Nice work... I cannot wait for spring.....Jerry

The carpet of bloom hasn't arrived in this part of the world but I'm optimistic and we'll be having an early spring. Wonderful imagery in your poem with "the roots breaking free of soil." The long wintry slumber is over at last. To borrow a line from PB Shelley:If Spring comes, can Summer be far behind?
Regards,
Satis
