Spring Has Nearly Sprung

Poem By: Scribblings of a middle aged mad man
Poetry

Ok a little premature I know, but I love the shift to spring and am already noticing some flowers are blooming early. View table of contents...

The first roasted flakes of cinnamon fall

melting the drama of cold

Baked and filling the air with fruit

they form a carpet of bloom

The dark cave of winter

crumbles under the arrival of new life

Roots break free of soil

and breathe the smell of change

A scent so strong

we can not avoid the sweet taste of Spring

Ever the optimist eh! Can't hurt can it? Lovely warm glow to this poem - nice.

I actually wrote this yesterday after my daily run. There is evidence out there that Spring is creeping upon us.

Well... I'm so happy for you because as I sit here by my window in good old Massachusetts, New England, USA I see snow covered earth, bare branches and a thermometer that reads 29 degrees!! But that only makes me enjoy the warmth of your poem all the more!!
Nice work... I cannot wait for spring.....Jerry

On reflection we do not seemed to have had much of a true winter (no snow). The thing that kills me during the winter is the short days and peoples long faces.

Oh I just LOVE the thought of being able to see spring rolling in! :) very nice poem Phillip!

What I wanted to achieve was almost being able to smell the poem. Difficult I know, thanks for reading.

The carpet of bloom hasn't arrived in this part of the world but I'm optimistic and we'll be having an early spring. Wonderful imagery in your poem with "the roots breaking free of soil." The long wintry slumber is over at last. To borrow a line from PB Shelley:If Spring comes, can Summer be far behind?
Regards,
Satis
