The anguish of war

Stability Stolen, a soldier falls
"Return fire," a general calls
Battered reborn a reason is void
For why on today all is destroyed
Self dug graves of pity and doubt
But now is no time to dig your way out

"Christ it's war, where's your pride"
Their spoken taunts, but still you hide
You need no medal to puncture your chest
Just a real reason to continue THEIR quest
