We lay together

sinking into the soft sand

Watched a distant red Sun

kiss the smoky horizon

Whether inspired or

lead by the hand of passion

We found ourselves

in sweet, sweet embrace

Your lips were so soft

the air so warm

I wanted to stop time

pause that moment forever

As the sun accepted an invitation

to party with darkness

We rose from the beach

our eyes refusing to part

On the way

back to your home

We talked about

the stars

How they can

predict the future

How they knew we

would always be a couple

Then the memory of you

dispersed upon the musk of night

It was the the first anniversary

of your death

Had we really

shared this night

Let the night sky

dictate our fate

Your return and

lips against my cheek

Were all the confirmation

I needed

I ran the rest of the way home

my heart occupied by you

Thank you, it is supposed to say beneath the lines true love never dies.

Wow Phillip, I was so enjoying this read and then it had the twist that she was kinda a live memory but so real....the poem just got better....I LIKE*********
