A poem I had to write for my College Readiness class

I am carefree
I am wild
I smile
I am a child

and as the years go on
the bad times come
and the bad times go
constantly followed by fun

but slowly
the fun goes away
but I stay
as the fun fades
and seriousness takes it's place
I change

now I am worried
about how I dress
and who I'm with
sometimes i'm self-concious

I am a teenager
no longer carefree and wild
but worried with a fake smile

but once in a while
the child buried deep inside my heart
comes out
and I am once more
carefree and wild
with a genuine smile

I am a child
If even just for a while
