I couldn't sleep last night and since I had just read A Christmas Carol I decided to do a tribute to Dickens and his book.

Old Ebenezer holds in one hand a black holy grail

In another a soft screeching angel frail

He stares at the quiet spectre and follows the holy trail

The spectre looks low and plain to the floor

An expression of unbelievable grief

Upon its part hidden face of gore

Chains entangle and envelop this being

With starving-hungry little frail bodies

These chains chink and wail

Like Marley's Ghost

Of a softer shade of pale

Bells chime once, twice, thrice

From a nearby blackened church

A fall from grace is no longer here true

As it once was for a younger phase of man

A fall from nothing may take its cue

Chains entangle; fear it rambles

As starving-hungry little bodies

Sway and falter in the breeze

With hopes for darling crumbs of cheese

Ebenezer he rants and rails

And others declare him 'Scr-o-o-o-oge!'

'A nasty piece of work!'

Harder than several oaken trees

Chains entangle; fear it rambles

His cruelty harsh as he exposes workers and fees

Starving-hungry little bodies whine

Grey garbage amongst their close-knit ties

Chains entangle; fear it rambles

To A Christmas Carol of old:

'God bless ye merry gentlemen!

May nothing you dismay!

For Jesus Christ our saviour

Was born on Christmas Day!'

Ol' Scrooge he'll never learn they say

To the wretches and poor; God and heaven twist-play

Each one sinks deeper, but still they pray

For sweet escape and holy Christmas Day

Though remember, the unlucky ones cannot celebrate that far

As scythes of black night call and swipe from afar

Chains entangle; fear it rambles

The feet of Scrooge they pound and trample
