Lord, I’m battling through for You
Lord, why do I battle?
Why do I fight?
When I know: Handing to You
Will set things right.
Lord, why can’t I wait?
Why do I persist?
When in truth: Handing to You
Will unclench these fists.
Lord, why don’t I obey?
Why do I stray?
When it’s obvious: Over to You
Is all I should say.
Lord, how can I change?
What should I do?
When my heart sings true:
“Only One can rule: You.”
Lord, how do I let go?
And not take back?
When history has shown me:
You have my back.
Lord, how do I relax?
And let You control?
When I’m standing in my way
Stopping Your blessings every day.
Lord, You made me man;
Flawed, imperfect man.
Lord, as I battle through…
Something I know I wished
Once upon a time…as a mere man;
I wished it wasn’t only You
Who gets to understand…
You replied: Love, only Love
And I humbled myself again,
Because You said: ‘understanding’ is not Your plan.
