Modern Prison

Poetry By: Shannan Browne
Poetry

modern life, consumerism, living day to day, stuck in a rut, sometimes the processed life we may lead is of our own creation

Modern Prison

Dawn: leave the box house
Using the box car
To get to the office box. Sit
Leave the box house stale air
Breathing box car filtered air
To get to office box processed air.
Air-conned, slowly suffocating
Cocooned in brick
Strapped in steel
Reinforced concrete. To be safe
Guarded box house
Alarmed box car
Office box security check in.
To be secure
Family - your jury
Drivers judging you
Bosses decide for you:
Sentenced.
Dusk: check out of the office box
Leaving the boss, security trap,
In steel filtering air,
To the home box cocoon.
All locked in.
Settled
