POEM: The Opposite of Love

Poetry By: Shannan Browne
Poetry

When trying to understand a concept it often helps to contextualise with the opposite... Love (the will to nurture one's own and other's spiritual growth - M Scott Peck) has it's opposite too: laziness and fear... are laziness and fear worth everything?

The Opposite of Love

Laziness.

Fear.

Take a moment.

Open your ears.

Listen to your core,

Your Godself within;

Pay absolute attention

Listening to what it says:

You can't reach heights

If you don't get out of bed;

You can't grow

If you don't challenge what is said.

Nurturing your soul

Is hard work, not rest:

Suffering and struggle

Between the world and the best;

Giving life everything

Being the ultimate test.

Or don't.

You can sit there, it's ok;

Missing out on everything

Who wants to grow anyway?

Especially when you are happy with:

Laziness and Fear…

Well, until it really is:

Too Late, that is …

But don't worry, it's ok;

Like you've already said: "It can wait."
