Fragile Heart

by SheaRyhai (c) 2010

The world comes at you

trying to tear you down.

Your heart is too fragile

so you just lock it away.

What once used to please you

is just an offending sound.

No one's trying to reach you

so you let go and fade away.

There's nothing wrong with the light,

it's just a little too bright.

There's more than enough to criticize.

Cover the mirror with chains,

hide your tears in the rain.

Wondering who would sympathize.

Who do you trust when your back

is covered in scars.

Everyone makes mistakes and yours

is dreaming you'll make it someday.

They've called you so many things

you're not even sure who you are.

Actions speak louder than words,

so why, is Love something they only say?

Happy you made it till here,

there's just yourself you should fear.

If you accept to be defined.

If you can't unlock your heart,

your doubts will tear you apart.

You'll never escape if you close your mind.

This rainbow appears and breaks

through the stormy skies.

But you're still huddled below

trying to hide away in your shell.

It's easy to become trapped

in this prison of their lies.

But it's still your choice to lock

yourself into this hell.

Laughter can hurt you or heal,

don't wish to no longer feel.

I wish my heart could be your shield.

But this is your life not mine,

more forward, there's no rewind.

So follow your dreams in this starry field.
