Shining Brightly

by SheaRhai © 2009

A falling star lights up

A thousand faces,

A thousand wishes,

And crashes to the ground.

All around people are

Screaming murder,

At the ones who hurt her,

But the star doesn't make a sound.

For many years it has

Watched us fighting,

Cruelly lying,

Poisoned by our own hate.

All these years it has been

patiently hoping,

Softly glowing,

Until it fell to its fate.

But still nothing has really changed.

People keep hurting and just pass the blame.

And when the star finally gives up and dies.

That's when a million stars start to cry.

Around the world thousands

Are silently wishing,

We could be more forgiving,

And let go of anger inside.

If we could move on

And speak more kindly,

Condemn less blindly,

A star wouldn't have to die.

When your actions seek to

Hurt another,

Do you ever wonder?

What your words lead them to do.

Hate continues and just

Circles wider,

You could have been kinder,

Because then it would have ended with you.

When you lie, it only does you shame.

When you cheat, there's just yourself to blame.

Why is destroying others just a game?

It certainly isn't the way you gain any fame.

Watch the stars as they are

Shining brightly,

Loving quietly,

Hoping you'll learn to love too.

I can't explain, I can't make

It much clearer,

That love is dearer,

Then returning this hate back at you.
