The storms inside are brewing,

the day to day trials are taking their toll.

Outside the skies are churning,

time for a cleansing of the soul.

The wind is blowing and howling,

the raindrops just starting to fall.

Most people are tucked inside their homes,

but this is when I hear the call.

Getting closer to the waterfront,

hearing the seagulls mournfull cries.

It is like they knew I was coming,

and the anticipation makes me sigh.

Bare feet touch the cool wet sand,

just let my toes sink in.

It wraps around my feet and holds them,

as if to say where have you been.

The water is churning around me,

much like the thoughts inside my mind.

The salt in the air is heavy,

but to my senses it is sublime.

Just stand very still and absorb it all,

let the moment carry me away.

The waves are building and come crashing in,

the force of them making me sway.

This turbulent beauty surrounds me,

I am but a speck on the sand.

This place would still be without me,

but it is here that i make my stand.

I lift my arms up and turn my face to the clouds,

just so I can take it all in.

Let the wind and the ocean, the salt in the air,

make my mind feel at peace once again.

As I turn to walk away the wind has now calmed,

the waves are just a soft gentle flow.

The peace and tranquility I feel now inside,

comes from this cleansing of my soul.
