If I could have a wish just for today where would I be;
somewhere that I could simply be free.
A cabin in the mountains I think I would choose;
inside all my worries would be easy to lose.
Surrounded by snowfall that muffles all sound;
so pure and pristine as it falls to the ground.
No curtains on the windows for I want to see;
the beauty around me that fills me with glee.
The fire would be crackling and that soft amber glow;
would keep me all toasty from my head to my toes.
A tune soft and mellow , ah yes that's the sound;
to add to the peace that I feel all around.
Candles would be glowing their flames dancing in time;
to the sounds that surround me yes this is sublime.
My paper and pen is there waiting for me;
to capture my thoughts whatever they may be.
No phones, no computers, no doorbells, no chores;
just me and my musings would be heaven for sure.
And if by some chance a kindred spirit I find;
well that would just add to this most special time.
The pillows are waiting on the floor by the fire;
a most perfect place to quell this consuming desire.
Oh yes if this wish I could have for the day;
my bags would be packed and I would be on my way.
