Why Do I Wish

I wish I knew how to not get involved;

  to not care and to not hope.

I wish there was a button to just turn off

 all the feelings that flood me and sweep me away.

I wish you could feel them and see for yourself

  because then maybe you would understand.

I wish I could tell you that this is no game

  hearts could be broken so easily here.

I wish I could explain to you how fragile I feel

  ready to break into a million pieces.

I wish there was a way to know from the start

  that my heart will be safe and not torn in half.

I wish I knew how to not get involved but

  in doing that I know I can never win.
