Life's Ponderings

You thought that you had destroyed me;

  left me lying there to wither and die.

The pleasure that you took from this;

  is what always makes me cry.

You thought that you had destroyed me;

  left me broken and so very sad.

But what you never realized;

  is that after being sad I just got mad.

You thought that you had destroyed me;

  but take a good long look again.

I refuse to let this be the end of me;

  I refuse to let you win.

You thought that you had destroyed me;

  and that I'd be forever lost.

You never thought I'd make it through;

  and now you must pay the cost.

You thought that you had destroyed me;

  but you are the one who will lose.

For I can move ahead with my life;

  and pick the path that I will choose.
