A TOUCH OF LOVE

You were six months old and bursting with fun

With a blink of an eye you were suddenly one

There were so many things we were going to do

But I turned my head and you turned two

At two you were very reliant on me

But independence took over when you turned three

Your third birthday came, another year I tried to ignore

But when I lit the candles there were not three but four

Four was the year when you really strived

Why look at you know; you are suddenly five

Now you are ready for books and for rules

This is the year you begin school

When the big day arrived you were anxious to go

We walked to the bus together ever so slow

As you climbed aboard and waved goodbye

I felt a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes

Time passes so swift; it is hard to believe

That yesterday my little boy was at home with me

Tomorrow when the bus brings you home

You will be wearing your Cap and Graduation Gown

So I hold on to these moments for as long as I can

For the next time I look back I'll be seeing a man
