The old man with his back to the sun,

complacent and tumbling through the fish-

His young ocean eyes ringing

with the sounds of passing tides-

His boy takes him seriously,

feeding him with adornment-

He wants to watch him perform

his magic in the depths of the water-

So many fathoms beyond religion,

a pure existence expanding in love.

His story is still being watched,

as he oscillates on the rooftops

Of oceans called cream-

he is patient in his following

Of the animal inside the sea,

pulling him through Havana's

Glowing strands of release,

as he waits in quietude

For an end that will

let him calmly breathe,

With the elegant lions

of his African dreams.
