The Question of The Future

Poetry By: SilentWords
Poetry

It is a risk to love. What if it doesn't work out? Ah, but what if it does? - Peter McWilliams. For those whose fear lies with falling in love all over again and for those with the same fear but never loved; it is always good to take another risk. For you'll never know if you only and always stay in hiding.

What if you leave instead of stay,

And all those promises that you made,

Have been swept away,

Like the wind blowing through my hair,

And the waves that wash away all the footprints of yesterday.

What if all the words you said to me,

Turn to dust in the air,

And all that's left are traces of whispers that reside within my head,

Haunted ghosts living in memories of the days when they once lived.

And all the dreams that we both had

Are to be reduced to ashes,

And laid along with the long lost wishes of other untold stories.

But what if you stayed,

And all you said did come true.

And you chased all my fears away,

Planted flowers in my heart,

Knocked down all my walls,

And cleared away all the cobwebs in my head.

What if you stayed,

And I took that risk,

Jumped off the overhanging cliff,

Will you be my wings?

Or will you be my anchor instead?

One way to find out.

One way to see it.

What If.
