When I am old, saying thanks and please
When I use my mind more often than knees
I shall not care, I shall not care
When people start calling me wise
When the end of the world is no surprise
I shall not care, I shall not care
When my hair is white as snow
When I never have anywhere to go
I shall not care, I shall not care
When I speak of how things used to be
When people no longer wish to talk with me
I shall not care, I shall not care
When the music's too loud for my ears to bear
When they say it's cool and I don't care
I shall not care, I shall not care
When I have no one to talk with but myself
And I speak of old memories on a shelf
I shall not care, I shall not care
When my love is prepared to die
When the house is empty, saying goodbye
I shall not care, I shall not care
When I'm too old to count the years
When pain comes as easy as false tears
I shall not care, I shall not care
When my hands shake when I try to write
When I go to bed at 8 O'clock every night
I shall not care, I shall not care
When the child inside me fades to black
When he is a man and will never come back
I shall not care, I shall not care
