Twas the end of the world
We were killing each other off
The diseases were spreading and guns were firing
Steady was the cough
So a great council was called
To join the laugh and the cry
The leader then asked, “What shall bring us together?”
A child in the back whispered, “I.”
And the men then shouted at the top of their lungs
“More guns!”, “More fights!”, “More people to die!”
And a child, shy, and in the back of the crowd
Whispered sweetly, “I.”
The leader shouted “Death is not the answer.”
“But where does peace then, lie?”
And a child, small, and in the back
Whispered softly, “I.”
The men then started to kill one another
And the child turned with a sigh
And he looked toward the chaos that was
And he mournfully said, “I.”
For this child wasn’t a child
But old as the heavens above
The child, shy, and oh, so soft
Was in actuality, love
But man always and forever will kill
For it is in them to defy
Even when the greatest force is talking to them
Saying the answer to all… “I.”
