The birds never chirped their angelic song
The angels never fluttered around
The fallen leaves of winter and fall
Never made a sound
The traffic in the highway stopped
Nobody blinked an eye
For a day without poetry
Time keeled over to die
The songs on the radio never played
The morning show waited till night
Until the sound of pen on paper
Finally filled the world with light
So if you think your poetry's bad
Think of the birds and think of never
Think of the angels not singing above
And keep on writing forever
