The Wind and the Flame

Poetry By: SkylerV

A cynical love story, but true nonetheless.

There once was flame, long, long ago
Who once beheld the wind
And the wind was filled with beauty and charm
And the flame just grinned
And the wind, passing by the window
Took a glance inside
And beheld the wonder of the flame
And they looked in each other's eyes
Everyday the wind seemed to pound at the window
Trying to get to the flame
And each time the fire would burn it's brightest
Just in the other's name
But one day I left the room
And the flame opened the window somehow
And the wind rushed into the room
To embrace the feeling she endowed
And she held her arms out to him
And held him ever so quick
And she beheld only smoke
As she held tightly the wick
So sometimes love is only a trap
To the hopeless, the hungry, the sick
And at the end of your glorious struggle
All that's left is smoke and wick
