A very dark poem about a lesson in life.

Feeling the pressures of life, she needed to fly,
for an evening away to unwind with only her friends.

Sitting alone, he passes the time
until late without a word, his worries arise.
No hint nor sign of where she might be,
waiting for her to relieve his nervous concern.

Two in the morning, he still waits to hear
she is safe and sound, soon to be home.
Draped in heavy silence,
the coming of dawn will unveil something concealed.

With the sun fully risen, the cat finally slinks in.
Caught up in conversation with such good friends,
she lost track of time, forgetting to call.
But her words can't hide what guilty eyes reveal.

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, in no one he shall trust.
