a poem dedicated to my best friend who is a man, letting him know that no matter what nasty rumours or gossip is going round generated by people we thought were our friends. i will always be his friend.. he is too important to me to let these evil people end our friendship View table of contents...

My Friend Forever!

Thank you for being my friend

For wiping away the tears

For listening to all my woes

For understanding all my fears

Our friendship is eternal

No evil words will end

No nasty little whispers

Will stop me being your friend

They have so little else to do

Nothing in their sad little lives

But to spread gossip and rumours

They will never stop me being your friend

I’m a woman and you’re a Man

It seems to them a sin

That we can be Best Friends

There’s something going on!

Only one thing will ever part us

And that is death, my friend

Their nastiness won’t stop me

We’re Best Friends till the end!

I must confess all my friends are women! I have worked with women all my life and have very little time for most men. Well written.

It's nice to know the friendship survives despite difference in gender. People can't just break it without you allowing it. I did write almost the same thing but the friendship was threatened by love. You may read it and it's entitled "Silent Exit". :-)

thanks for this comment boney. i believe men and women can be best friends, it is just narrow minds that caue problems. but i can tell you for sure no-one will break my friendship with my best friend. he is far too important and i know that people will gossip no matter what so if i let them stop us being friends i am no better than them. and i know i am better than that.

thanks lacey it did mean a lot to him and probably it is that bond that makes people wonder, but i think a lot of them are just mean spirited. it is no-ones business but they seem to want to make it their business. no matter we will always be friends.

Of course men and women can and should be friends. Like Irwin, almost all of my lasting friendships through the years have been with women and not men and I live in ther States!!! It's a lovely poem, snow, and nice to know that there are other 'best' friendships of mixed gender.

Oh So sweet .....I am glad i have a friend like this...she is a neurosurgeon and is in India...she is far away from me but always there with me when i call out for her...she has changed my life forever with her gentle and firm ways....

It is good to have a friend like this and it doesnt matter whether they are male or female as long as they stand by you and give you support and love, just like mine and just like Swati. God bless both of them and God Bless you. And all our other friends, may we never take them for granted and lose them.

thank you for reading again boneman. i agree totally with you. i like to think i make my friend's life better by being an ear to bash or giving a hug when needed, generally being around. and you would not believe how lucky i am to have my friend in my life. he makes me laugh he makes my cry and there are days he makes me so angry i could burst but i would not be without him.
