"Showtime"

The lights are dim

the curtain is down

the applause of the crowd

now a deafening silence

one more stellar performance

faded into the shadows

the gestures were grand

the songs most splendid

the story of love so sweet

victory yours, a valiant feat

A story I know all too well

it beckoned to me from afar

wooed me, courted me, lured me

to a place I feared to tread

so hesitant was I to be

to that painful place I'd been before

a heart once broken slowly mends

depths of an aching I dared not revisit

but like a cat with it's prey, you stalked me

I was seduced by the premise of love so free

patiently you waited

for my will to weaken

my sanity escaped as I surrendered

I savored the sweet nectar of lust

the euphoria giving a false sense

of security in love

reality bites in the ass

when lust ends and heartache begins

being abandoned for reasons unknown

I'm angry at me for the seeds I've sown

just as is the story of the play

the beginning is alluring

temptation begging to continue

the middle a restless feeling

uncertainty where the plot is heading

predictable would be a blessing

perhaps something redeeming behind the scenes

deep denial, a tragic ending

close the curtain, the drama is done

the show is over, the end has come.
