Stealing Glass

Poetry By: Splendins

This is a poem i wrote some time ago inspired from a creative writing activity involving unusual combinations of nouns and verbs. "stealing glass" was the pair i picked and is about a thief's view on stealing a diamond.

Stealing glass

Thrill divine

In taking what is not mine.

Of seeing false reflection

In its dazzling mirrors

And thinking of all the thieves,

The killers...

Who have reached

And not grasped

Who have looked

But not seen

Intimidating madness

In its shimmering sheen.

Cowards I call them

Who could not hold onto

What is nestled in my palm

Those that could not face

That deadly calm.

Knowning that its is I

That has won

That holds the glittering prism

Between finger and thumb

That watches the captive rainbow

Lance across a broken sky

A droplet of Heaven

Burst in the blink of an eye.

Beauty for beauties worth,

A drop of murder

A death that cost the earth

And to know as I know

Of this diamonds curse

All the braver to die rich...

It could be worse.
