Dressed in plain sorrow
Deprived of hope and chance
Walks a young girl
The path of solitude
Her veil of tears
Obscures a pretty face
Head bowed in submission
She accepts full defeat
Her path is stained
With a thousand nails
Her bare feet so sore
Carries her on, unwilling
From the broken wall
Of rain falling down
Comes an unknown friend
With a sun to give
Placing in her hair
A forgotten sun
An unloved flower
The humble dandelion
Dressed in new hope
With a promised chance
Walks a young girl
The path to better days
