A chain is only as strong as its weakest link
That's what we've been told, that's what I think
Break that link, and we break the chain, and whatever it holds at both ends, it will hold no more
Whether ten links, a hundred, or a thousand score
Two hearts linked together by a chain of love
Two friends linked together by a chain of trust
Two countries linked together by a chain of peace
Ten (linked) countries make a chain of peace
A hundred (linked) friends make a chain of trust
A thousand (linked) hearts make a chain of love
But all it takes is for one heart, one friend, or one country to call it quits.
And then the whole chain is broken to bits.
Are we a link in a chain or are we what the chain holds together
A strong link broken by a cutter or a weak link broken by a feather
A chain can be made of many things, such as circumstances, steel, paper or strings
A chain of mail, a chain of lakes or a chain of islands
Two people, two hundred people, two thousand, holding hands
A chain is only as strong as its weakest link
That's what we've been told, that's what I think
Break that link, and we break the chain, and whatever it holds at both ends, it will hold no more
Whether ten links, a hundred, or a thousand score
