Poem written 01/03/2013 for the unwise doctors, kings and queens that we aren't!

When I first lay my eyes upon you,

I saw someone who's heart was true.

I thought that she's the only one for me;

and I'm the one for her,

if only she could see.

I put you up on a pedestal so high,

that we soon had our nose's way up in the sky.

And even though I tried hard to be your king;

I didn't treat you fairly,

as if you were my queen.

I tried to remake you into something you were not;

because when I was through,

you were something I hadn't sought.

I felt quite like Doctor Frankenstein of old;

for we nearly killed one another,

because our hearts turned cold.

When they first lay their eyes upon us,

they saw someone who's souls had turned to dust.

They thought that she's not the one for him;

and he's not the one for her,

for both their eyes are dim.

So we placed ourselves in our own dark tomb,

wrapped up like a mummy, trapped in our own doom.

And even though I knew that I wasn't your king;

I didn't treat you fairly,

because you weren't my queen.

I tried to remake you into something you were not;

because when I was through,

you were something I hadn't sought.

I felt quite like Doctor Frankenstein of old;

for we nearly killed one another,

because our hearts turned cold.
