I'm rowing on down the river

right up to the very end

I paddle with all I could give her

just to be around the next bend

I hear the roar of water

and it's moving on mighty fast

what I had I should have ought of

saved it all but it wouldn't last

Riding on over the devil's dam

is sad and not so funny

It won't prove to you who I am

but it cost me my dear honey

So I'm damned if I do

and damned if I don't

Damned if I will

and damned if I won't

It's been a real wild ride

scared the hell out of me

I gave them all and then I cried

that this whole trip wasn't for free

Holding on for my dear life

breaking up at a dead end

stab my heart with a real dull knife

shoot the rapids and kill a friend

Riding on over the devil's dam

is sad and not so funny

It won't prove to you who I am

but it cost me my dear honey

So I'm damned if I do

and damned if I don't

Damned if I will

and damned if I won't

I'm rowing on down the river...
