Diggin' for gold, in the rain,

all they found, was a silver vein.

While some did laugh, the others cried,

and if you wanna know the reason, here's the reason why.

*

They sold their souls, for the Devil's gold,

and it's a doggone shame, so the story's told.

You don't always get, what you want,

when your dealin' with the Devil,

you either will, or you won't.

*

Diggin' for gold, none to take,

all they found, was a grave mistake.

When the lightnin' struck, it was so bazaa,

they couldn't escape from the Devil, they didn't get very far.

*

They sold their souls, for the Devil's gold,

and it's a doggone shame, so the story's told.

You don't always get, what you want,

when your dealin' with the Devil,

you either will, or you won't.

*

Diggin' for gold, in the mine,

all they found at the end, was a sign.

If your treasures aren't in heaven, you'll find them here in hell,

and if you've read this sign, then all is not well.

*

They sold their souls, for the Devil's gold,

and it's a doggone shame, so the story's told.

You don't always get, what you want,

when your dealin' with the Devil,

you either will, or you won't.
