Diggin' for gold, in the rain

All they found, was a silver vein

While some did laugh, the others cried

If you wanna know the reason, here's the reason why

*

They sold their souls, for the Devil's gold

It's a doggone shame, so the story's told

You don't always get, what you want

When your dealin' with the Devil

You either do, or you don't

*

Diggin' for gold, none to take

All they found, was a grave mistake

When the lightnin' struck, it was so bazaar

They couldn't get away from the Devil, they didn't get very far

*

They sold their souls, for the Devil's gold

It's a doggone shame, so the story's told

You don't always get, what you want

When your dealin' with the Devil

You either do, or you don't

*

Diggin' for gold, in the mine

All they found, at the end was a sign

If your treasures aren't in heaven, you'll find them in hell

If you've read this sign, then all is not well

*

They sold their souls, for the Devil's gold

It's a doggone shame, so the story's told

You don't always get, what you want

When your dealin' with the Devil

You either do, or you don't
