If all that we can ever be here is just friends

I want us to have been the best when the world ends

I can never be your brother nor you to me

a sister, no that has not nor can it ever be.

We leaned upon one another and fell in love

but now we're falling hard while only dreaming of

those days and nights that were oh so great

interrupted by nightmares that make our hearts break.

My heart breaks whenever reality hits me

after having awaken from dreaming of you so free

I live through days of hell here without you and scream

while praying for the nights to return me to you in a dream.

Here in the real world we are so far apart

There in the dream world we are of one heart

Here in the real world we drift further away

There in the dream world that's where I want to stay.

If only the dream world was the real world

and the real world were but a cruel misty swirl

a nightmare to me, I would never ever need to sleep

and be with the love of my life laying there so sweet.

But, if all that we can ever be here is just friends

I want us to have been the best when the real world ends

Hopefully in heaven I'll be your brother and you to me

a sister, but no that has not here nor can it ever be.

We leaned upon one another and fell in love

but now we're falling hard while only dreaming of

those days and nights that were oh so great

interrupted by nightmares that make our hearts break.
