How can you write about the sunshine
when all I see is the rain
And how can you write about the moonshine
when all I see is the pain.
How can you write about the flowers
when all I see is the dirt
And how can you write throughout the hours
when every minute you hurt.
This house is just as empty as your heart
what keeps you going I want I know
While the world around us is falling apart
I wonder how your garden grows.
You tell me that it needs a little sunshine
but it doesn't need all this rain
Tonight you doubt they'll be moonshine
it takes blood, sweat, tears and pain.
How can you have such beautiful flowers
you say to make sure that I have the right dirt
How can you toil over it throughout the hours
you say that it helps to heal the loss and the hurt.
This house is just as empty as your heart
what keeps you going I want I know
While the world around us is falling apart
I wonder how your garden grows.
