If it's gonna rain, it's gonna rain on me

Can't you see the dark clouds a coming

I could be at home and laying in my bed

A bolt of lightening would find me there.

If we're gonna lose, why just wait and see

Can't you hear the slot machines a humming

I could be there and then place the wrong bet

A row of wrong numbers just isn't fair.

If there's anything that I'm real good at

it's loosing base when I come up to bat

Somebody has got to go and take the fall

while somebody else has got to win it all.

If it's gonna fail, it's gonna fail on me

Can't you see the broken heart a thumping

I could be the one who tore it to shreds

A body crying and a soul laid bare.

If we're gonna leave, leave it up to me

Can't you see the sad guitar a strumming

A tune about a man who doesn't care.

If there's anything that I'm real good at

it's loosing base when I come up to bat

Somebody has got to go and take the fall

while somebody else has got to win it all.

If it's gonna rain, it's gonna rain on me

Can't you see the dark clouds a coming

I could be at home and laying in my bed

A bolt of lightening would find me there.

If you wonder why, then just let it be

Can't you see there's some of us slumming

I could be somebody but I'm so far in debt

A closed account with lonely love to share

If there's anything that I'm real good at

it's loosing base when I come up to bat

Somebody has got to go and take the fall

while somebody else has got to win it all.
