You say that the story's yours and you're sticking to it
no matter what anybody says
It's coming together bit by bit
and you'll have a best seller in just a few more days
Though sometimes you go and break tradition
why not even you're a mathematician
So you get it wrong every once and a while
but that's your way and that's your style
No you can't please them and you can't please me
so please yourself and let it be
We can't all be happy, no matter what you write
while slaving over it both day and night
Not everybody liked Lord of the Rings
but hey, that's just one of those things
How about Star Wars or Star Trek
no, not even those, so what the heck
And the stories of Harry Potter
why not make them cooler instead of hotter
Well tell us now, what are you going to do
to make us all happy so we'll read it through
