We aren't nobodies fool
sitting here in our swimming pool
Underneath an old shade tree
to escape the hot summer heat.
Over a hundred every day
the only time we want to play
Is right here in our swimming pool
that's where we are keeping cool.
We would like to be at the beach
but that's farther now than we can reach
In some ocean and up to our neck
instead of in the sun all covered in sweat.
Low heat's in the oven and high heat's outside
to bake us and boil us and then tan our hides
But sipping the bubbly we aren't nobodies fool
while wrinkling like prunes in our swimming pool.
After a hot day in the sauna factory
got to get somewhere out of this heat
Home to the air conditioner and shower
a hop in the pool till the midnight hour.
Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned
except for the sun on this hot July morn
Behind our house there is no river or lake
but anywhere around it you are sure to bake.
Neighbors from up and down the street
ran with inner tubes and snorkel tubes to be
Right here in our swimming pool
escaping the heat and keeping cool.
Low heat's in the oven and high heat's outside
to bake us and boil us and then tan our hides
But sipping the bubbly we aren't nobodies fool
while wrinkling like prunes in our swimming pool.
