Why do friends have to live a thousand miles
or more away,
when another friend cries,
cause another friend dies,
and we can't be there,
to surprise them,
with a shoulder to lean on,
and arms so safe and warm,
speaking soft words that calm,
from the storm.
So please tell me,
tell me now,
why can't we be there,
be there some how,
right now,
be there some how,
right now.
They tell us,
that we don't feel their pain,
but the same rain,
washes us down the drain,
to the sewers,
way down below,
and even though,
we are smiling,
the frown on us shows,
way down below.
When another friend cries,
cause another friend dies,
and we can't be there,
to surprise them,
with a shoulder to lean on,
and arms so safe and warm,
speaking soft words that calm,
from the storm.
