Friends are an extension of our family
There when they're needed
When dad's at work
And mom is busy
A sis has a quirk
Or a brother's in a tizzy
You call your friend
Up on the phone
Tell them you're sad
And that you're all alone
They don't say
Well that's to bad
Next thing you know
They're there in a flash
Their arms around you
If they need to be
Or their eyes open
If they need to see
And if there's something
That your family's been missing
Your friend's ears are alert
If they need to listen
But most of all
Before the two of you part
They gave you their time
You gave them your heart
There when your crying
Or there when your not
Sometimes a friend
Is all that you've got
