What in the world happened to the days
when those knights in shining armor rode in
their swords pulled while fires were a blaze
as they fought foe and dragon to the end.
Damsels and slaves screamed out for help
or the young and elderly scattered to and fro
while a brave knight by a needy body knelt
thinking of a safe haven where they could go.
Police men or women dressed in black, brown or blue
helping as fire men and women fight to put out a fire
While emergency medical technicians take care of you
family, friends and neighbors come to aid the crier.
A police car, a fire truck or an ambulance
are the horses used to come on the scene
No matter who what when or where the circumstance
they're there to help for they alone have the means.
Is it you or is it I that screams out for help
to stop a fight, put out a fire or go to the hospital
as a few brave knights by a needy body knelt
thinking of safety, they take charge in the middle.
What in the world happened to the days
when those knights in shining armor rode in
their swords pulled while fires were a blaze
as they fought foe and dragon to the end.
