You use to never tell me no
but that was once upon a time
there in another land of old
before I went and lost my mind.
In the tears that cried this river
while trying to get back to you
there in the land of gold and silver
where I'm still swimming in the blues.
So go on alone without me babe
and do what you have to do
while I'm drowning in this lake
I know that my life is through.
How long can I hold my breath
as I quickly lose track of sight
how many seconds till my death
turns my day time in to night.
I can see no reason or rhyme
as I fail to swim to shore
I've got to quit crying in my wine
and say good bye for ever more.
You use to never tell me no
but that was once upon a time
there in another land of old
before I went and lost my mind.
In the tears that cried this river
my ghost can't get back to you
there in the land of gold and silver
where I'm still haunted by the blues,
by the blues.
