The days are growing longer
But you can feel the night creeping in
Your courage grows stronger
As you feel the day come to an end
The moon is your only light
And it reflects in his eyes
Your hand holds his hand tight
As he guides you home, tonight
You ask if you can lead the way
You’re not ready to go home,
Not ready to let the dark take him away
You won’t let the dangers claim him from you, tonight
The stars guide you
To heaven on earth
With him laying there beside you
All your worries fade away
His breathing is steady
His heartbeat is matching yours
You feel like you’re ready, ready to defeat the world, tonight
It’s warm out but still you stay close beside
His hand assures yours that he’ll stay with you forever
And laying there in the dark, you two decide
That nothing will come between you for the rest of your lives
The crickets tell a fairytale
Of true love at last
And you’d like to tell them it doesn’t always fail, tonight
Alone in the darkness
Him as your only light
No one but the trees to witness
The promise’s you make, tonight
And in the morning you’re afraid to open your eyes
You’re afraid that you dreamt the night
And his promises were lies
But you feel him by your side
And wait silently for tonight
