A poem about faith and faithlessness

Sometimes, it seems, we are almost divine,
Or Angels wandering through Eternity's field,
The soul, we always reluctantly find
Is far beyond our intellects' yield
It cannot with Science be defined,
With Math or Physics quantified,
We live and breathe on higher planes
Than logic or reason can contain.
Or are we just romantic fools?
Pointless newts in a pointless pool.
Is a happy thought self-justified?
Better a placating lie
Than torturous truth
Are the faithless and aloof
More mad than those who need no proof?
