Nightwalker

Poetry By: Sunset
Poetry

I just thought I should write a poem about one of my favorite things. You'll have to read the poem to know what I'm talking about.

Do you remember when we first met?
I was battered and in rags
I was lost and out of hope
I was lying on the ground in a dark ally
I did not see you coming
Do you remember?
My Nightwalker
You revived my lost soul
With words ever so kind and soothing
You said that you would protect me from all danger
You said that you would be with me
From the setting of the sun
Till the first signs of the horizon
You would always be by my side
Do you remember?
My Nightwalker
Do you remember when I was not recognizable to you?
Red hunger clouded your common sense
All your promises had vanished from your sharp memory
You lunged for my neck
I saw my short life flash before my eyes
But ever so slowly you released me
You were brought back to your senses
By the liquid of sadness descending from my eyes
You promised that I would never see you as a beast again
Do you remember?
My Nightwalker
You said that you had to travel for a while
You promised that you would be back very soon
I held unto your promise
I held unto all your promises
I gave you my trust
I believed every word that left your deadly mouth
You said that you would always be by my side
Then why am I lying on the ground
In this dark and frightening alley
Battered and in rags
I did not see you coming
Because you never came
I saw him instead
This new Nightwalker
