Life Leads to Memories
Up and down, up and down
My feet toiled on down memory lane.
The bumpy and rocky road winding,
Twisting and turning like a path
Showing me the answer to the mystery.
My dreams are splayed along
The side of the path; pictures of happiness,
Generosity, passion, and love for life.
Oh look! There is one from childhood,
One forgotten, another crushed by words.
I see memories held tenderly by the branches
Of the old willow and birch trees.
I grasp one in my hand and break the stem
Off as if it was a Granny apple.
Standing there I could sense the end
Of the lane, but still onward I kept moving.
I felt sad to be leaving memory lane.
Looking around one last time I realized
All that was missing, here, was my
Memory of life, not my dream of
