Awake
I awake to the thought of you.
Rolling through undulating waves of sheets,
I see your smile of peaceful dreams.
I close my eyes
Only to see yours staring into mine.
Here, glances pass for words.
My eyes open once again.
You have heard my body calling,
And as you pry your eyes open,
Your body calls back.
Your eyes send your soul’s fresh tendrils
Deep into mine, in a passionate embrace.
The cold wind blows outside.
You shudder.
Hold me.
And I do.
Just as the crimes of passion that have come before,
You stole my heart.
You can keep it;
This time, I gladly relinquish.
