Billy
a poem by S H Fouts
Cradled deep inside my womb,
I heard God speak to me
He said a son you shall have
And a blessing he will be
Life's dealt a blow
With physical woe
And genetic imperfections
With a crooked spine
And one kidney
What were my expectations?
Was it due to LSD
or even agent orange?
Or was it mercury in fish
I do not know at all.
But this for sure I know
That my love for you is strong
A blessing you are
A handsome man you've grown into
Shining like a star
A star, you are, a shining star
Light flashing from afar
I believe God has His hand
upon your shoulder's son
To lead you and to guide you
Into His perfect plan.
I love you as you are
Accept you as you are
But I believe God has more for you
To turn you into His star.
